One of the foremost experiences you’ll go through as an undergraduate is undergoing an internship program. This is important because earning work experience can boost your chances of employment, and I think you’ll agree with me when I say that, getting an internship that you actually want can be a challenge, which is why it’s important to make the most of it.
You see, being an intern in Artzap Studio has been a huge success for me. The experience has taught me more than I could have imagined. I had experienced so many things that sometimes, it’s hard to recall everything that happened over the past weeks. As an intern, my duties were diverse and altering, and because of that, I had acquired numerous experiences that served as a learning path to my future career. But how do you have a successful internship? I’m going to tell you what I know…
Get your mindset
Always have a goal in mind before you start working for the day. One of the most important aspects of being good in any profession is being prepared for any situation. Take a moment to carefully think about how you should go about your daily work at the office and make it a routine. During my time at Artzap Studio, they taught me how to be prepared. You must have ideas ready to share with everyone during office meetings and especially during client meetings. I have learned that when I routinely prepare myself, I enhance my own self-discipline and I become more mindful of what I’m doing.

Professional Communications
Since being an Intern, working in a professional environment for the first time can be difficult to get used to. On my first day at Artzap Studio, I was timid and uncomfortable working at my desk but I overcome all of those, learning how to navigate my way to real-life working experiences. Speaking in a professional manner is a valuable asset you will gain from your internship.
I remember my very first client meeting, I was anxious and I couldn’t even speak. What I did, I observed, That’s when I realized that, discussions with clients or your boss is different from discussions with lecturers. It has a professional tone to it. After your internship, you will have a better idea of an appropriate way on how to behave as a professional. This will make you more confident that will surely be a big help for you in the future.

Embrace the art of learning
Even if you’re inside or outside of the office, there’s always room for improvement. The design industry is constantly evolving, and you’re always a few steps behind. In order for you to keep up, you must explore new things and gain insights into new design trends, improve your skills, or just simply have an adventurous mind that is hungry for a new learning experience.
As an intern at a design agency, we accommodated various clients at the same time. Due to the fact that we have to do different designs for each client, I had encountered numerous mental blocks. In the event it happens, learn how to conquer it by means of exploring. Take time to conceptualize, or you can even go outside for a bit of fresh air. Don’t worry about making mistakes, just as long as you learn from them. Learning from your mistakes guides you to improve and grow as a designer.

Always be the best version of yourself
Work hard no matter what you’re doing, whether it is big or small. It will help you build your work ethic and it is very important. Even doing small tasks, people will notice the efforts you put in. It will make you stand apart from the rest. Know your responsibilities and work accurately and in a timely manner. Don’t be a slacker. Doing your tasks and following instructions can make it easier for everyone, especially your bosses.
Go above and beyond your work. Despite you being just an intern, you’re also needed and work is always appreciated. Step out of that little box, and be the best you can be. Don’t forget to let your sparkle shine! You are your biggest project.

Remember, you are not alone
Lastly, out of all the things I’ve experienced In Artzap, this one had the most significant impact in my opinion. Working in an environment where you feel accepted and welcomed, is such a blessing. I was very lucky to be able to work in a company that encourages open communication. I didn’t have difficulty asking for help, for the reason that they’re always ready to assist you regarding your concerns.
Here’s the thing, don’t be afraid to ask questions or for advice. Clarify things with your mentor or your boss about the things you can’t understand. It’s better if you address the issue early, rather than doing it on your own and failing. It will only lead to complications or worse. Just always remember that you are not alone, that’s why you’re working as a team. Build a relationship with your coworkers so that you’ll understand each other. By means of communication, they will know what your strengths and weaknesses are and they will use it to train you.

My internship at Artzap Studio had been nothing but wonderful. From poster designing, web development, and client presentations, it definitely prepared me for what’s coming in the future. It gave me an opportunity to further cement my passion for designing. I’ve become more composed in doing what I love. As my time in Artzap Studio comes to an end, I just want to say thank you to my mentors, I have learned a lot along the way. I have gained new experiences, new friends, and mostly, a new perspective for my future.
