Designing is a challenge but it’s a lot of fun! For most projects, you really get to express yourself and your creativity for a project. There are a lot of ways on how you can create visually impressive designs.
- Theme
Always think of every project as a special one. A good design theme has a feel that matches the project so make sure you try to match it. Play around with color, typography, and imagery. You see them everywhere but more often than not, you see these in posters. Check out the examples down below!
- Readability
The design should be readable. People need to be able to read information from a distance. This readability is not just for text elements but also for imagery. Make sure that you’re able to decipher the content from afar to assure a successful material.
A tip we have for you is you might want to make sure that the design comes out nice in pictures. It should be readable enough that you’ll be able to see the details clearly. Especially in today’s time when people are so adamant about going digital. You have to keep up!
- Key information
Always, always, ALWAYS include your key information such as time, date, place, contact details. This is a basic rule of thumb in design Don’t forget this!
- Visuals
Whatever your project is, make sure that your visuals pop! You have a wide array of elements you can use to enhance every feature of your design such as images, text, color, illustrations, graphics, etc. Capture your audience with stunning visuals! We know that it could be difficult to make a design stand out because of the environment around it.
Colors
Stick to a color palette. Even if a variety of colors could be fun and engaging, it might be a little too overwhelming. Keep a two or three option palette to keep the colors under control. Fewer colors cause less stress to the brain and help create a more harmonious and organized appearance.
Elements
Every element in your design should be representing something. Don’t overwhelm your audience with the cool interface. It should be there for a reason. Plan the use of elements only when they serve an actual purpose.
Typeface and Copy
Less is more. Typefaces are easier to read when they’re of standard shapes and strokes. Don’t look for additional typefaces if you need to emphasize anything. You can start with just two typefaces. One for the main text and one for the subtext.
Every word should convey meaning and should be consistent with the messaging of the design you created. Edit the copy and then have it checked, once it’s checked, improve, and improve and always ask for feedback. Create a tone that flows through the design and uses words and language that appeal to users.
This is why you should work harder to achieve stunning visuals. Don’t be afraid to ask for suggestions and ideas from people outside!
- Size and scale
Designs come in all shapes and sizes. Try using this formula for design.
- Main image (70% of canvas)
- Headline (33% of canvas)
- Secondary information (33% of canvas)
- Details (15% of canvas)
- Branding/sponsorships (10% of canvas)
The 80-20 rule is a good place to start when thinking about making changes to a design. There are ways on how you can implement the rule. 20% of the elements on your site will result in 80% of desired user actions, so calls to action, buttons, and other elements will generate a significant number of user interactions. It is also called the Pareto principle or law of the vital few, developed by economist Vilfredo Pareto.

- Template
Creating a design can be tough. We think starting projects would be easier if you have a design template to follow.
You should look for designs that make it easy to create multiple variations.
A design, no matter what it is, should have an end goal which is having something for your users to do something. The call to action needs to be clear and large enough to see in locations that users never go too far away from making THE click.
